Wednesday night was bowling night! The Chinese students had said earlier in the week that they didn’t have very many opportunities to participate in sports as a result of their rigorous course loads and lack of free time. The Collegiate students pondered a world where the two sport requirement was replaced by hours of self-study late into the night. We decided to exchange part of our pop sports culture by playing hours of riveting games of bowling. Parker of the Chinese delegation said, “I loved playing bowling. I had heard of the sport before but I don’t think any of us had played before.” After a few rounds of getting to know how to throw the bowling balls down the lanes, Angela said, “This game is very fun.” Collegiate and Chinese students paired up in the final games and had a rousing yet friendly competition in partner teams together.
